Capt. William Z Scott had a lucky break, during the first three minutes of the Battle of Nhpum Ga hill. He hadn't had a chance to dig a foxhole and was caught by shrapnel from a mortar burst. Although shrapnel penetrated his helmet it was too spent to cause more then a minor scalp wound (white spot above forehead). Capt. William Z Scott of Lansford, Pa. Scott was a lawyer before entering army.
